Welcome to the Examination Schools website.
The Oxford University Examinations Schools are located on the High Street at the heart of the beautiful and historic city of dreaming spires. The building, commonly known as 'Schools' by the thousands of undergraduates who have passed through Oxford, was designed and built by Thomas Jackson as the examination centre for the University between 1876 and 1881.
The Examination Schools are headed by the Head of Examinations and Assessments, and the Building and Events Manager. The Heads each lead teams, one responsible for examinations support, and the other team responsible for building services and report directly to the Head of Student Administration.
The primary responsibility of the Schools is for the organisation and administration of the university examinations.
The building also provides the university's main lecturing facility and is heavily used outside term-time as a venue for meetings and conferences. It is one of the largest buildings of the University and is situated in the centre of Oxford, in the High Street.
