General Conference Information

During Christmas, Easter, and summer vacation periods (some 14 weeks per year) the building is available as a conference venue capable of accommodating nearly 2000 delegates throughout its 18 rooms. Spacious accommodation is available in high elegant oak panelled rooms for between 20 and 500 delegates per room. Each room can be adapted to suit the individual needs of an event with a range of furniture and Audio - Visual equipment to suit most common needs.

Nearly 13,000 sq. ft of floor space in the North, South, and East Schools provide ample space for exhibitions and displays whilst adapting equally well to banquets and promotional receptions. Accommodation is available at 36 of the colleges or at central hotels, most of which are within 10 minutes walk of Schools, which is Oxford's largest city centre conference venue.

CONFERENCE SCHEDULING

The examination schools are available for conference bookings approximately 14 weeks per year mainly during Christmas, Easter and Summer vacation periods. As a conference venue the building is capable of accommodating nearly 2000 delegates in 18 rooms. The venue offers spacious rooms with oak panelling, high decorative plasterwork ceilings, original artwork and leaded windows, with seating available for between 20 and 500 delegates per room. Every room can be adapted to suit individual needs for each event with a range of furniture and audio visual equipment available to suit most needs.

Many rooms have views onto the lawned quadrangle which can also be used as a venue for serving drinks and refreshments during summer.

CONFERENCE VENUES

The Schools has three major areas suitable for large conferences, The South Writing School, The North Writing School and The East Writing School, as well as a number of rooms available for smaller groups. Please click onto each location for more detailed specifications.

The South Writing School

The South School, situated at he top of a central marble staircase, is the primary Conference Hall within the schools, and comfortably seats 450 in Theatre Style. The room is "T" shaped, suited to a variety of styles in presentation and rear projection techniques.

The North Writing School

The North School is located on the first floor, is an "L" shape and can comfortably seat 450 in Theatre Style. While often used along with the adjacent South School as an exhibition and catering space, it is equally suitable as a main plenary hall.

The East Writing School

The East School is a rectangular room located on the first floor, comfortably seating 250 in Theatre Style. It is often used in conjunction with the adjacent South School as an exhibition and catering space, as well as being suitable as a major or secondary plenary hall.

14 Seminar and Breakout Rooms

Twelve ground floor rooms and two first floor rooms are available for accommodating from 10 to 120 people, depending on the layout required. All are equipped with modern dimmable, glare-free lighting, several mains power sockets, and many with telephone points.
