Examination Schools applies for wedding license

The Examination Schools are applying for a wedding license which will be open to University and non-University members. The venue would allow weddings with up to 350 guests to make use of the Grade II-listed building's' three reception rooms, Great Hall and outside quad space for arrivals and receptions and an in-house catering team."

The reception rooms mentioned are the North, South and East Writing Schools.


University buildings short listed for conservation award

The University of Oxford has been shortlisted for a building conservation award in the Oxford Preservation Trust’s annual awards scheme. The short listing is in the category of ‘building conservation’ and applies to two of the University’s flagship buildings: the Examination Schools and the Sheldonian Theatre. Both buildings are important venues for academic and ceremonial purposes.

New look for old high street favourite

The Examination Schools on the High Street, a Victorian Grade II listed building owned by the University of Oxford, has been restored to its former glory after repair and extensive cleaning work. Years of pollution from traffic on the High Street caused the beautiful limestone exterior to be buried under a layer of black soot, hiding one of Oxford’s architectural gems.

Examination Schools hosts Make-A-Wish summer charity ball

There are currently 20,000 children and young people living in the UK with a life-threatening illness. Established in 1986, Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK has granted 6,500 magical wishes to these children and young people. Each year the charity holds a number of key fundraising events to help raise the money required to grant more magical wishes. One of those events is the Make-A-Wish Summer Ball which will take place in the magnificent surroundings of the Examination Schools, University of Oxford on Saturday 2 July

Examination Schools supports Oxford Fashion Week

With over 40 handbags, 30 + pairs of shoes, and three wardrobes worth of clothes, I always have been, I’m currently and always will be a fashion lover. So when Oxford Fashion week approached me to run their Haute Couture show in March 2011 at the University of Oxford’s Examination Schools I was delighted!
