| National Farming Conference kicks off 2013 |

| It was straight back into the New Year for the conference team at the Schools as we provided the venue for a three day national farming conference from 2nd-4th January. Over 500 farmers from accross the country and abroad attended with keynote speakers including politicians, representatives from the NFU, academics and retailers. The media was also well represented with over 70 attendees from the BBC, national newspapers, food and farming trade press and television covering the event. The aim of the conference was to focus on opportunities within the agricultural industry and to celebrate the progressive thinking that has taken place. Two days were spent preparing for the conference including setting up a large marquee in the quad, giving additional space for hospitality provided by the in-house team at the Schools. |

| Schools history brought to life through old photographs |

The Examination Schools' history has been brought to life in the re-discovery of some interesting old photographs. Purpose built as an Examination venue for the University of Oxford, the Schools was built between 1876 and 1881 by Sir Thomas Jackson. On a recent search through our archives we found some interesting pictures of the laying of the foundations of the Schools. The second picture shows the foundations being laid (with the help of a horse and cart) and the High Street in the background.
