| It's been a busy few months for the staff at the Examination Schools. University exams have been and gone, two of our largest rooms have been extensively redecorated and we have also found time to hold a conference featuring Bill Clinton. August saw the arrival of a new staff member just in time for the rigours of our September conference season. |
| Extensive Refurbishment of North and South Schools |

Our two largest rooms, the North and South Writing Schools, have had their ceilings and walls completely repainted and both rooms have been recarpeted. This was an extensive project and took six people four weeks to complete. Scaffolding was erected in the rooms to reach the 6 metre high ceiling and after the ornate woodwork had been protected, paint was sprayed onto the ceiling. The colours were "heritage colours" in an attempt to restore the building to its original colour scheme and a total of 800 pints of paint were used for this project. The old carpet tiles have been recycled through Desso where worn out carpets are safely recycled into new carpet products.

| Re|Source 2012 Conference |

July 2012 saw the Examination Schools host the Re|Source Conference. This was a high-profile environmental conference bringing together people from across the globe including Bill Clinton, The President of Rwanda and Sir David Attenborough. The aim of the conference was to investigate new investment opportunities and provide workable solutions to global resource issues. Two days were spent erecting the set and the bespoke catering requirements posed an exciting new challenge for our staff. Each day a buffet lunch was provided in the style of a market stall and consisted of locally sourced produce.

With a background in the hotel and foodservice industries, our new Deputy Facilities Manager, Craig Archer will play an important role in managing the operational aspects of conference and academic related activity at the Schools. Working closely with the Events team, Craig's support will ensure conference organisers continue to get excellent on site support for their events. Welcome on board Craig!
