Overview

Since 2003, the Oppenheimer Fund has been helping students from South Africa to study at Oxford.

This year the Fund is again working in partnership other donors (such as the Clarendon Fund) to provide comprehensive support packages

Awards are made for the full duration of a student's fee liability for the agreed course (subject to an annual renewal process based on a review of their academic progress and their funding position)

Two awards. One for taught Masters and one for MPhil/DPhil

Application procedure     

Apply at the same time as you apply to Oxford by selecting Oppenheimer Fund Scholarships in the University of Oxford Scholarships section of the University's graduate application form.

Applicants should also apply to the Clarendon Fund

8 January 2010 for Medical Sciences and Philosophy students; 22 January 2010 for all other subjects

Results

We expect to notify successful candidates in June 2010.

A notice will appear on this webpage when decisions have been made. If you have not heard from us by the time this notice is posted, then your application has been unsuccessful.

Other information

Students supported by the Oppenheimer Fund also get to attend any receptions the Fund organises, which can be a valuable opportunity to meet academics with strong South African links

About the donor

Harry Frederick Oppenheimer was a noted South African businessman, philanthropist, and opponent of apartheid. In 1993 he endowed the Oppenheimer Fund at Oxford University. The Fund both assists with academic exchanges between Oxford and South Africa, and assists South African students wishing to pursue graduate study at Oxford
