UAS Conference, Tuesday 28 March in the Mathematical Insitute, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter
Registration for the UAS Conference is now closed.
Lunchtime session: The what, where and why of the Language Centre
Venture over the road to 12 Woodstock Road, just across Woodstock Road from the Mathematical Institute, to discover the University’s Language Centre. Follow in the footsteps of over 3,000 language learners who come to the centre each year to learn 12 modern foreign languages and English for academic purposes. There will be a short talk in the Roman Bath area (yes, really!) on what the centre can offer to your students and to you as staff, and you will be shown round the classrooms and library in the intriguing buildings. Known as the Red Barn and the Cottage, as the blue plaques on the buildings testify, they began life at the start of the 20th century as a museum for stuffed wild game, and then as a theatre (the precursor to today’s Playhouse).
This session takes place from 13:15–13:50 and you are welcome to bring your lunch with you. Spaces are limited – to reserve a place, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Be a 'buddy' to a European university administrator
Would you like to be a ‘buddy’ to a European university administrator during the UAS Conference? The International Strategy Office is hosting a staff training week for European administrators and is seeking volunteers from the University to meet with the European trainees and show them around the conference on the day. You will be paired with a trainee who works in a similar area to you. You will meet with them briefly during the morning registration and again during the lunch break. For more information, email Katherine Benson at email@example.com.
