Are You A Display Screen Equipment (DSE) User?

Do you use a display screen on most days at work?
Is its use essential to your work within the University?
Do you sometimes use it for intense periods of work?

If you answer yes to these questions you are a DSE user. By law the University is required to:

  1. Analyse workstations to assess and reduce risks
  2. Ensure workstations meet minimum requirements
  3. Plan work so there are breaks or changes in activity
  4. On request arrange eye tests especially for DSE work
  5. Provide health and safety training and information

Assessments should be carried out for all new employees or when significant changes are made to an existing workstation, such as undertaking a significant proportion of your work from home.

Please help the University to comply with these regulations by ensuring that you have undertaken training and the self assessment process when you start work.

To report problems regarding your health related to your DSE, contact your DSE assessor if they are known to you. Alternatively your supervisor or departmental Administrator could contact your DSE Assessor on your behalf.
