Wood Dust

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has recently produced updated guidance on working with wood dust, in particular Western Red Cedar wood dust. All efforts must be made to avoid or reduce exposure to such wood dust under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH). Health surveillance through Occupational Health is required for those working with most woods, if exposure to wood dust is ongoing.

If you are working with wood dust and in particular Western Red Cedar wood dust, please read these related HSE links and undertake a risk assessment under COSHH to assess whether you should register for health surveillance with Occupational Health. Please contact the Occupational Health Service via 282676 or enquiries@uohs.ox.ac.uk.
