The Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages is offering a secondment opportunity for a skilled administrator who can support graduate admissions and on-course administration while a permanent post-holder is recruited for the role. Working closely with the Director of Graduate Studies and the Director of Masters Courses, the post-holder will help to oversee and co-ordinate the Faculty’s taught and research graduate studies programmes. UAS Conference feedback

A secondment opportunity has arisen for a Data Analyst within the Student Data Management and Analysis (SDMA) team in Student Registry, Academic Administration Division. This represents an excellent opportunity for someone who is proficient in Excel and has some understanding of student data to significantly enhance their data manipulation expertise, gaining extensive experience of pivot tables and data matching. The successful candidate will be responsible for acting as first point of contact for data requests to the team, responding to Freedom of Information requests for data, liaising closely with Council Secretariat and providing internal users with ad hoc data requests. The post holder will be part of a wider team that reports on student and undergraduate applicant data for a range of internal and external reporting purposes and plays a leading role in reporting developments across the university. Applicants able to commit to a full-time role will also be able to gain some experience in data visualisation through the use of Tableau software.

Applications are welcomed from candidates with excellent organisational and numeracy skills who have experience of communicating effectively orally and in writing both with academic and administrative staff, often at a senior level. The ideal candidate will have some experience of analysing large datasets. Part-time from 0.6 FTE up to 1.0 FTE would be considered for the secondment. Finance and Research Officer (2–3 month secondment, October 2016–December 2016)

A secondment opportunity has arisen for a Finance and Research Officer in the Faculty of Music to support the finance and research activity of the Faculty. Although the Faculty is recruiting for a full-time replacement, part-time from 0.6 FTE would be considered for the secondment, with a focus on finance support. This would be an excellent opportunity for someone with finance administration experience and good communication skills to contribute to, and gain experience in, a small but busy faculty within the Humanities Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day finances of the Faculty of Music, acting as first point of contact for all financial matters for the Faculty, and reporting to the Head of Administration and Finance. To that effect, they will be expected to keep up to date with the University’s financial regulations, maintain administrative systems, gather financial data for reporting and budgeting, deal with petty cash, expenses, invoices (accounts payable and receivable), casual payroll, and generally keeping up to date with the Faculty’s financial requirements. They will also be expected to support the Faculty’s research activities, including publications and conferences, and act as secretary for relevant committees, as well as being an active member of the Faculty’s administrative team.

Head of Administration and Finance, secondment opportunity, 1 October - 31 December 2015

Faculty of Philosophy, Radcliffe Humanities

Leading an administrative and finance team, as well as a small IT support team, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient day-to-day operation of the Faculty of Philosophy. Adept at strategic planning, you will work closely with the Faculty’s academic staff and liaise regularly with administrators, research facilitators, and finance staff within the Humanities Divisional Office. 

You will have a firm grounding in administration, including some experience of line management and dealing with complex personnel issues, financial management and budgeting, and committee servicing. Organised and skilled at prioritising your own workload, you will have excellent interpersonal skills, be a confident communicator and able to work with and inspire confidence in a wide range of people across the University.
