Doors

+ more

The main entrance door is manual with vision panels, and there is a doorbell and intercom on the right hand side of the steps.  Please ring this doorbell and a staff member will take you through the most appropriate access door.  Level access to the cottage side of the building (Rooms 101 and 102), is through the second door to the left of the main entrance on Banbury Road. This opens manually and has no vision panels.  The door directly left of the main entrance is accessed via a portable ramp and provides access to the rest of the ground floor.  It too opens manually and has narrow vision panels.  Doors to most seminar rooms and the library have narrow visual panels.  They will usually be held open when there is an event taking place, but if this isn’t the case, they are not heavy.

Library

The library is located on the second floor.  There are study desks with moveable chairs.  Though not height adjustable, they are at a good height for wheelchair users.  There are three small study spaces, with accessible computers on the left hand side of the entrance.  Some of the shelves will be too high for wheelchair users to reach, but library staff are always happy to help.

Wheelchair users can request materials to be brought to the ground floor should they not wish to use the stair cilmber.

Seminar Rooms

+ more

There are ten seminar rooms available: two on the ground floor, six on the first floor and two on the second floor.  The two ground floor rooms are located on the cottage side of the building (Rooms 101 and 102) and you will need to take the second door to the left of the main entrance on Banbury Road for level access. Rooms on the first and second floors are only accessible using the portable stair climber.  Please mention any access needs you have prior to attending an event or when booing your language class.

All seminar rooms have flexible furniture which can easily accommodate wheelchair users.  Room 301 on the top floor also has a hearing loop and banks of computers arranged in a row at the back of the room.

There are accessible computers used for teaching in Room 301, on the second floor. Though not height adjustable, desks are at a convenient height for most wheelchair users.
