Pop-up Childcare

There may be occasions where a Department or College wishes to provide childcare for staff or student members outside of standard working hours or at the weekend.  At those times, organising regular childcare may not be possible.

There are a number of companies that exist to provide  'temporary' childcare services in the form of 'pop-up' nurseries or creches.   Costs for such arrangement vary depending on location, number and ages of children, however, you should expect to pay in the region of £100 per hour.

When appointing providers for this purpose, colleagues should consider matters of safeguarding and risk, and consider undertaking a risk assessment, as outlined in the University’s Safeguarding Code of Practice http://www.admin.ox.ac.uk/personnel/cops/safeguarding/. As a minimum, information should be sought on the company's Ofsted registration and appropriate liability insurance.  Additionally, checks should be made to ensure that all staff employed by the temporary provider have appropriate safeguarding clearances - i.e. DBS with barred list checks where regulated activity is involved.

The University has previously worked with and checked the credentials for the following company:

Other providers are available.  Please contact the Head of Childcare Services if you require further information and/or guidance.
