Case Management

Education Policy Support is responsible for certain kinds of student case management, including dispensations from the Examination Regulations, appeals against Proctorial decisions, applications to the Fees Panel, cases referred to the Fitness to Study Panel, cases referred to the Student Disciplinary Panel and the Student Appeal Panel, and cases that are under investigation by the Office of the Independent Adjudicator.

Dispensations concern requests relating to individual students for the normal limits and rules set out in the regulations to be set aside because of extenuating circumstances. Education Committee’s powers in this respect are set out in Council Regulations.

Education Committee is the appeal body in relation to certain Proctorial decisions, principally decisions made under Parts 11-14 of the Regulations for the Conduct of University Examinations.

The Fees Panel considers cases of doubt or difficulty in relation to the calculation of an individual student’s University fees.

The Fitness to Study Panel deals with serious and difficult fitness to study cases referred to it by a college, department or faculty, the Proctors, the Student Disciplinary Panel or the Student Appeal Panel.

The Student Disciplinary Panel deals with disciplinary cases referred to it by the Proctors. Applications for permission to appeal against decisions of this Panel are considered by the Student Appeal Panel.

Education Policy Support also deals with cases that are under review by the Office of the Independent Adjudicator.
