Four projects shortlisted for prestigious award

Four capital projects have been shortlisted for the coveted Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) South awards.

Blavatnik School of Government The Blavatnik School of Government, the Weston Library, the Ruskin School of Art and the Radcliffe Primary Care Building (formerly the Outpatients Building of the Radcliffe Infirmary) wereWeston Library - External by John Cairns among 32 shortlisted for the awards, which covers Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and Middlesex.

Paul Goffin, Director of Estates, said: ‘We are delighted to have a four RIBA shortlisted projects. It must be unusual for one institution to have this number of buildings in the running. The University invests over £100 million a year in its estate in order to ensure that it continues to offer world-leading teaching and research in world-class buildings and facilities.’

The winning buildings will be announced on 28 April and will be eligible to be considered for a RIBA National Award, the results of which will be announced in June. The shortlist for the RIBA Stirling Prize for the best building of the year will be drawn from the RIBA National Award-winning buildings later in the year.
