Solar panels installed on Dyson Perrins Building

Staff from the Environmental Sustainability team recently installed photovoltaic panels on the roof of the Dyson Perrins Building.

New PV solar panel installation on Dyson Perrins, September 2017

The installation includes technological improvements over previous ones around the University – it features Solar Edge inverters and optimisers for the panels, which are more expensive but make the system convert sunlight into electrical power around 5% more efficiently. The installation will last at least 20 years and is expected to pay for itself in 14.

The Dyson Perrins Building is home to the Archaeology Research Laboratory, the Environmental Change Institute, the School of Geography and the Environment, the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, and the Transport Studies Unit.
