Oxford wins International Sustainable Campus Network award

The University has been selected as a winner of this year’s International Sustainable Campus Network Excellence Awards in the Innovative Collaboration Category. Our entry – led by Lucinda Lay, Carbon Reduction Project Manager in the Environmental Sustainability team – was selected as an outstanding example of ‘excellence in the integration of sustainability-focused projects with the core education and research mission of the institution’.

International Sustainable Campus Network Excellence Awards The Carbon Innovation Programme (CIP) was developed by the team in partnership with the Environmental Change Institute and New Energy Systems Thinkers, an interdisciplinary postgraduate programme.  It provides an opportunity for staff and students to generate unique ideas for carbon reduction and bid for funding to implement the idea within the University estate. A team of four individuals were recognised at the recent 2016 Sustainability Showcase awards for designing an innovative carbon reduction project aimed at reducing energy use by fume cupboards, by ensuring fan speeds respond to external wind speeds.

Lucinda received the ISCN award at the organisation’s annual conference hosted by the University of Siena, where thought leaders, practitioners and change agents joined together to exchange perspectives and form global partnerships in pursuit of sustainability.
