Comics convention returning to Exam Schools

Oxford’s only comics convention will return in April for its third year in the Examination Schools, a venue managed by the Estates Services Facilities Management team.

The event will take place on 21 April from midday to 5pm, with early bird entry from 10am. Ticket prices are between £10.50 and £14.50.

Special guests will include Arti Shah, who has performed as alien beings in films like Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Guardians of the Galaxy, and members of the team of puppeteers responsible for controlling Jabba the Hutt in the original Star Wars trilogy. There will also be many stands selling comic- and sci-fi-related artwork and memorabilia, and a programme of comic-related talks.

Many fans are expected to attend in costume, and there will be a catwalk at the end of the day to let them show off their handiwork. And it won’t just be guests who will be suiting up for the day – as with last year’s convention, event security staff will be getting into the spirit of things by dressing up as imperial stormtroopers.
