University Club to be refurbished

The University Club will soon get a new-look bar and café area – work will start on 28 August and finish on 14 September.

The bar and café facilities will not be available during this period, but the result will be a more inviting and usable space for Club customers.

Building pagesThe project is led by the University’s Facilities Management team in collaboration with catering contractor Compass. Because the first-floor meeting rooms are still being used for academic activities displaced from the Tinbergen Building, the refurbishment will also include the lower ground-floor function room, which will then be available for members’ events and activities.

Spinning classes will not be available from around a week before the work starts; extra classes will be laid on at the University Sports Centre on Iffley Road to compensate. The gym, physio, astroturf pitch and bedrooms will still be open during the refurbishment, although there may be some noise disruption during the daytime.

The Club’s bedrooms can now be booked again after being used for research in the wake of the Tinbergen’s closure. For further information please visit the Club’s website.
