Harriet Waters becomes Chartered Environmentalist

Harriet Waters, Head of Environmental Sustainability, recently qualified as a Chartered Environmentalist with the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), joining a worldwide network of experienced environmental professionals who are leading efforts to improve sustainability in organisations ranging from local and national governments to NGOs and multinational companies.

Harriet Waters - Head of Environmental SustainabilityThis is not the only professional milestone that Harriet has recently passed. The Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) named her as a 2018 EAUC Fellow – one of eight members of the organisation who are described as ‘going above and beyond in contributing their time and expertise to the EAUC and the embedding of sustainability at the heart of post-16 education.’

The group will join the existing EAUC Fellows, working in areas including engaging with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, helping deliver EAUC’s advocacy strategy and leading its efforts to address environmental issues around energy, carbon, travel, construction and biodiversity.

The two achievements emphasize the esteem in which Harriet is held in the profession, and the University’s leading role in making UK higher education more sustainable.
