Wytham Woods hits the small screen

Episode two of Ray Mears’ Wilderness Walks series (ITV 14 October) featured a canoe journey along the River Thames during which Ray camps in Wytham Woods, described as ‘one of the world’s most precious and exclusive woodlands’.

The BBC’s Countryfile Autumn Special was also filmed in Wytham and broadcast on 19 October.  And the AutumnWatch team were on site in September filming a piece about spiders.

Meanwhile, the Botanic Gardens is running an exhibition until mid November called ‘Oak at the Crossroads’ – a mix of art and science looking at the history of oak trees in the Woods.
