Opting out

USS Opt Out (scroll to 'Notice to opt out of pensions saving form')


NEST: If you decide to opt out you can do so in the following ways -

  • Online - visit the NEST Member Hub, select opt out and follow the instructions on screen. The advantage of completing this online is that it is quick and we will also write to you to confirm your decision;
  • Telephone - call 0300 020 0090 and follow the automated instructions;
  • Post - call 0300 020 0090 and request a postal form to be filled out and returned to the Pensions Office. The Pensions Office will tell NEST that you have decided to opt out. Opting out this way takes more time to complete so there is a chance more contributions from your earnings will be taken before the process is complete. Remember, the one month opt out period means that if you choose to opt out by post, you will need to do it in good time.
