Castle Mill

Castle Mill improvement works

+ more

Work will commence on site on Thursday 15 February 2018.

Site works

Contractors (Beard) will commence site set-up and enabling works in the area between Blocks E and F, including the erection of Portakabins on scaffolding above the laundry and creation of the site compound and the holding area for deliveries. The affected bike hoops currently located between E and F will be relocated to the courtyard outside A Block common room.  Contractors will be on site Monday to Friday from 8am, but any noisy work will not start before 9am; they will finish by 5pm.

Block K will be the first to be worked on, commencing with the erection of scaffolding and sheeting in the first week of March (taking approximately four weeks), in advance of façade painting.  In order to test the practicality of the execution of the works, we will be limiting this work initially to Block K only.

The timing of works on Blocks H, J, L and Gatehouse 3 is yet to be confirmed but Beard will be putting together an accurate and detailed activity programme during the next three months which will detail the amount of disruption each block is likely to experience.

Rent reductions

During this period the University commits to the rent rebates as set out below.  The reductions that will apply with effect from 15 February are as follows:

Blocks E, F, H, J, K, L and Gatehouse 3 – 50%

All other accommodation – 10%
