Works to the exterior of Castle Mill have been delayed, and are now expected to commence between mid-January 2018 and mid-February 2018. These works are expected to continue for around 2 years. The contractors, Beard, are currently finalising their programme of works, and we should have a confirmed start date from them in early January.

As the works have been delayed, the dates for each phase of works within this document are no longer accurate, however the principles of the rent reductions will still apply to each phase.

An information event held at Castle Mill on 28th November, giving current residents the chance to meet representatives from the contractors, the architectural design team, and the Graduate Accommodation Office, and to ask questions.  Following this, we have put together some FAQs, available here: Works at Castle Mill FAQ's (224kb)

Modern, well-appointed and maintained accommodation

Castle Mill is located at the end of Roger Dudman way, which is convenient for the train station and Oxford City Centre.  There is also pedestrian and cycle access at the Northern end of the site via Walton Well Road, which gives easy access to Jericho, North Oxford and the Science Quarter. The site is located between the railway line and Port Meadow.

The accommodation consists of two phases – the original blocks A-C, and the newly built second phase - Blocks D-L. 

Rooms and studios are equipped with the basic furniture required - tenants must provide their own bed linen (including pillows), crockery, cutlery, cooking and household items.

All tenants are responsible for the cleaning of their own room/studio. A regular cleaning service is provided for the shared kitchens and other common areas.

There is no parking at Castle Mill.

Utilities:

  • Tenants of studios and flats will receive a quarterly bill for electricity based on usage.  All other utilities are included in the rent.

203 x Ensuite Rooms – complete with toilet and shower facilities, arranged in clusters of 4, 5 or 6 with a shared kitchen/dining room. 


35 x Single Studios – complete with toilet and shower facilities, as well as self-contained kitchen facilities – microwave and fridge/freezer.  Kitchens in the old phase contain a full cooker, whereas in the second phase, they contain a 2-ring hob.
