HR Self-Service Guidance

This page is designed to provide staff with HR responsibilities with support for HR Self-Service. University employees should visit the HR Self-Service Staff Gateway page for user support and to log in to the system.

HR Self-Service enables all employees with a CMS University contract of employment to access elements of their HR record, update their personal details and view payslips and P60s online.

The system also enables managers (as designated by their department) to view some information about their team.

Support for HR Self-Service

All support materials are available from the right hand menu of this page. Please note that these materials have been designed solely for users of the CoreHR Personnel module/back office users and staff with HR responsibilities.

If you have a query, please refer to the Go-Live Guide and the Common Queries page. Further FAQs are available from the HR Self-Service Staff Gateway page.

Employee Self-Service (ESS)

ESS is now available to all employees with a CMS University contract of employment.

Manager Self-Service (MSS)

MSS is now available to all designated Self-Service Managers.

Updates about HR Self-Service

Updates on the project to deliver HR Self-Service were communicated to ‘key contacts’ in each department, and also included in the HRIS Bulletin.

In April and May 2018, the project team ran a series of briefing sessions aimed at preparing staff with HR responsibilities for the launch of HR Self-Service. Over 180 staff attended the briefing sessions and the team were delighted with the level of engagement and constructive feedback received. Visit the 'Common queries' page for answers to questions raised at these sessions. A copy of the slides distributed during the briefings can be accessed from the ‘Support Materials’ section on the right-hand side of this page.

Future Plans for HR Self-Service

Following the launch of MSS, this section will be updated with important information regarding future plans for HR Self-Service. These include:

  • The CoreHR upgrade - following the upgrade, HR Self-Service will be accessible from any location, on any device with an internet connection. At this stage, staff will stop receiving paper payslips, with the exception of the very small minority of staff who have no internet access.
  • Phase 2 of the project will deliver a leave and absence module and improved functionality for the service.
