Memo: M6/18

University Radiation Protection Officer

I am pleased to announce that Paul Kayente will be joining the University Safety Office on the 19 November 2018 as our new University Radiation Protection Officer.

Paul has many years’ experience in radiation protection, most recently at Nuvia Limited where he has been a Radiation Protection Adviser, Radiation Waste Adviser, and Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser.

You will know that Aurora Health Physics have acted as our Radiation Protection Adviser since the departure of Mark Bradley back in May 2018.  The University will retain the services of Aurora up to and throughout the initial handover with Paul Kayente.

In the meantime, please note the following arrangements:

  • All ionising radiation enquiries should continue to go to:

rpa@safety.ox.ac.uk

  • Radiation worker training – these lectures are going ahead this term and details are posted on the Safety Office website:

http://www.admin.ox.ac.uk/safety/oxonly/ionisingradiation/trainrad/

  •      Radiation Protection Supervisor Training - this will be scheduled after Paul Kayente arrives.

Finally, I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their patience during this period.  I would also like to thank Craig Morrissey and Glenn Hardcastle from Aurora for their help and support over these last few months.
