Course Details

The University Policy Statement on 'Safety in Fieldwork' (S5/07) emphasises the importance of risk assessment, thorough pre-expedition and contingency planning, good communication and adequate training for all fieldwork activities, whether based in the UK or overseas.

To assist with training the Safety Office has arranged for a specialist training provider to run fieldwork courses covering these fundamental aspects of expedition planning and fieldwork. Training Expertise have extensive experience in organising adventure expeditions and preparing fieldworkers for remote areas around the world, and have also collaborated with other Universities in fieldwork training and preparation.

Fieldwork supervisors and expedition leaders are also encouraged to attend.

An indicative programme is shown for information, but may be subject to minor changes depending on the interests of the attending delegates.
