Who should attend?


Expedition leaders, supervisors and others responsible for managing fieldwork / fieldworkers, or for individuals who review and approve fieldwork risk assessments.




Course Details

The University Policy Statement on 'Safety in Fieldwork' (S5/07) emphasises the importance of risk assessment, thorough pre-expedition and contingency planning, good communication and adequate training.

To assist with training the Safety Office has arranged for a specialist training provider to run fieldwork courses covering these fundamental aspects of expedition planning and fieldwork.Training Expertise have extensive experience in organising adventure expeditions and preparing fieldworkers in UK and in remote areas around the world, and have also collaborated with other Universities in fieldwork training and preparation.

Fieldwork supervisors and expedition leaders are encouraged to attend. Please note that due to the interactive nature of the training the number of places will be strictly limited. Individuals who attend on the day, without having reserved a place, will be turned away.

An indicative programme is attached for information, although this may be subject to minor changes depending on the interests of the delegates.
