Fire Safety Training

Who should attend?

Suitable for all staff, but particularly for those individuals who have been nominated to implement aspects of their department's emergency fire plan.

Course Details

The University is required under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2006 to train as many staff members as possible on how to use the types of fire extinguishers provided in their place of work.

Short fire safety courses lasting approximately 2 hours are provided by the University Safety Office.

The course is presented by the University Fire Officer and comprises a short talk and video, followed (under supervision) by a practical session using fire extinguishers on controlled fires (weather permitting).

There is no charge for these courses.

In addition to the scheduled course(s), this course may also run on request. In such cases, where there are sufficient numbers, the course may be held at or near your department.

The course is intended for anyone who has been nominated to carry out key tasks within their fire emergency plan. Having completed the course, delegates will have sufficient knowledge to instruct others within their department, who simply require refreshing on the content of their induction training.

For further information please contact the University Fire Safety Officer.
